Kenneth Ray Esau

March 20, 1935 — August 17, 2024

Kenneth R. Esau, 89 of Overland Park, KS went home to be with his Lord on Saturday August 17th, 2024 while surrounded by family. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday August 21st, at the Countryside Baptist Church 14150 W. 175th St. Olathe, KS 66062 with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m.

Ken was born March 20th, 1935 in McPherson, KS to Isaac and Ruth Esau and grew up with siblings, Jolene, Larry, and Dale. Ken graduated from McPherson High School and attended the University of Kansas, obtaining a degree from the School of Pharmacy. Upon graduation from KU Ken married the love of his life Nancy, and spent the next 55 years by her side until she passed in 2013. Ken and Nancy were devoted to their faith and family throughout their life. Ken was an Eagle Scout and supported the Boy Scouts of America as a Troup Leader. Ken was committed to the development of youth as a Little League Baseball Coach as well as serving on the School Board in Concordia, KS. Ken was a member of the Rotary Club of Concordia. Ken was always involved in the church where he loved serving in various positions within the church as a deacon and other volunteer positions. Ken was a Pharmacist by profession and was proud of his work in the health care industry. Ken received the Bowl of Hygeia award in 1996 for his work in Pharmacy and civic leadership.

During his free time, Ken enjoyed camping trips with family, coaching little league, watching KU athletics, following Indy Car Racing, NASCAR, Royals Baseball, and the Chiefs.

Ken is survived by his 3 daughters Linda Esau of Portland, OR: Sharon (Chris) Gillespie of Derby, KS; Rae (Jerry) Letourneau of Olathe, KS; 2 sons Steven Esau of Atlanta, GA; Mark (Nicky) Esau of Davenport, IA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and brothers Larry (Debbie) Esau of Santa Barbara, CA, Dale (Aleta) Esau of Spokane, WA.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the University of Kansas Cancer Research and Hospice House of Olathe, The University of Kansas Health System, Attn: Fund Development, 11300 Corporate Ave, Mailstop 9241, Lenexa, KS 66219.
