Kendell Leslie Voth, 81, of Overland Park, KS passed away Monday July 7, 2025. Services for Ken will be held Saturday, July 19, 10:30am at Community Covenant Church, 15700 W. 87th St. Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66219
Ken was born November 10, 1943, in Newton, Kansas, to Orville and Frances Voth. He grew up on a farm in Newton, attending a one room rural grade school. As a child, he liked to watch the trains passing by his parents’ property and even into adulthood would spend hours streaming videos of steam engines on his cell phone. He often spoke about his pet chicken, Chickie-Poo, who rode on the handlebars of his bicycle wherever he went.
Ken graduated from Newton High School and continued his education at Kansas State University, DeVry Technical Institute and Wichita State University. He had a variety of jobs including manufacturing mobile homes, working as an engineer in a steam heating power plant and an assembler for the B-52 airplanes. He finally settled in the Kansas City area maintaining and installing computers for Four Phase, Honeywell and Motorola; eventually retiring from Sprint in the year 2000. After retiring, Ken’s main hobbies were gardening and the occasional trip to the local casino.
Ken married his late wife, Laurinda, on June 20, 1964, and they spent 55 years together before her passing in 2020. They were both active in the churches they attended with Laurinda singing in the choir and Ken helping with ushering. They also liked camping in the mountains of Colorado pulling their pop-up camper behind their Cadillac.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife Laurinda Voth, parents Orville and Frances Voth and siblings Ilea Stutzman, Clyde Voth, Oren Voth and Lenora Nickel.
He is survived by:
