Keith Allen Hurmence

Keith Allen Hurmence, 87, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1938 in Tripoli, Iowa to Ralph and Phyllis Hurmence.

Keith proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he dedicated 44 years of his career to United Telephone/Sprint.

Keith loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed babysitting all of the “granddogs,” something that brought him a lot of joy. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and regularly gathered with fellow retirees at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and camaraderie.

Keith is survived by his children, Darci and her husband Greg Farmer of Olathe and Todd Hurmence of Olathe; his grandson, Nikki and his wife Merrilee Hurmence; his granddaughters, Lauren and Jordan Farmer; his great-grandchildren, Adele and Waverly Hurmence; and his sister, Pam Kingery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Hurmence; his parents, Ralph Hurmence and Phyllis Hurmence; and his sister, June Schrum.

His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel with a reception following until 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Keith’s memory be made to Ascend Hospice, 4550 W 109th St, Overland Park, KS 66207.
