Karen Kay (Kenney) Clark, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 8, 2026, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Born in Jefferson City, Missouri, to her parents, Raymond Kenney and Nellie Crosswhite, Karen was a resident of the Silvercrest College View Senior Living in Lenexa, Kansas, at the time of her passing. A quiet but remarkably strong soul, Karen was known for her kindness and grace; she rarely spoke a harsh word and was deeply loved by all who knew her. Though she stood only five feet tall, her vibrant spirit was towering, leaving an impression on everyone she met that was easily "six feet tall."
Karen’s professional life was marked by dedication and longevity. She spent 15 years working at the Hallmark Headquarters in downtown Kansas City before moving to Southern California. There, she served the County of San Bernardino for over 30+ years as an Imaging Supervisor.
Outside of work, Karen was a woman of many passions. She was an adventurous cook who never shied away from a new recipe found in a magazine or cookbook. She was an avid collector of Beanie Babies and Disney pins, and she found great joy in the art of scrapbooking. She loved exploring local farmers' markets, visiting Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo, and shopping throughout Southern California. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, especially her beloved twin grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her husband, Terry K. Clark; her daughter, Amber L. Clark-Mazurier; her son-in-law, James F. Mazurier; her two grandchildren, Faith Elizabeth and Clark James Mazurier; and her brother, Don Kenney. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Mary Nell Kenney, Everett Kenney, Karl Baggett, Paul (Bobo) Bagett, Larry (Charlie) Baggett.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a catered lunch. Both will take place at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Black Bob Rd., Olathe, KS 66062.
