With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Judy Porting, 63, who left this life on December 4, 2025, after courageously battling leukemia for nine months. Born on April 27, 1962, Judy lived a life defined by warmth, energy, and genuine connection.
Judy worked as a Client Service Administrator at Mariner Wealth, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and unfailing willingness to help others. Her colleagues and clients alike admired her steady presence and the sincerity she brought to every interaction.
Active and full of life, Judy loved to run, ride her bike, and—most of all—attend her yoga classes, where she found both strength and community. She completed several marathons over the years, each one a testament to her determination and the spirited way she embraced life.
Those who knew Judy will never forget her wonderful, contagious laugh and the openness with which she treated everyone she met. She made friends easily and wholeheartedly, often calling people “friend” with genuine affection and meaning it deeply. She was also a caring dog sitter, treating every pet as if it were her own, and she lovingly took many of her friends’ children under her wing.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Sumi Coones; her nephew, Jared Coones; and her sister-in-law, Jayne Coones.
She is survived by her son Bryan Porting, daughter-in-law Jordan, and her treasured granddaughter, Kennedy Jude; her brothers Tom Coones (Annette) and Mike Coones (Debra); her sister Carol Brewer (Thomas); her ex-husband Mark Porting (Laura);many nephews and nieces, and countless friends and loved ones who were touched by her generosity and light.
A visitation will be held at Journey Church, 13700 W. 151st Street, Olathe, Kansas 66062, on December 11th from 5:00–8:00 PM, with a funeral service on December 12th at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jared Coones Memorial Foundation (www.pumpkinrunwalk.org) in Judy’s name.
Judy’s absence leaves a deep and aching void, but her laughter, kindness, and the love she so freely gave will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. We invite you to join us at Freddy T’s, 7920 W. 151st Street, Overland Park, KS 66223, on Friday, December 12th at 1:00pm to celebrate her life and share more stories about her.
