Joyce Pearl Wagster, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 84. Born on December 26, 1940, in Apalachicola, Florida, Joyce lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Joyce devoted many years of her life to a career as a dietary aide for various Nursing Centers in the Johnson County area, as well as the Olathe School District. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless individuals, offering care and support to those in need. Her compassionate nature and nurturing spirit, especially for babies, were hallmarks of her character, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Joyce enjoyed many past time activities and hobbies throughout her life including square dancing with her husband, sewing, cake decorating, flower arranging, gardening, and she enjoyed bowling for many years on a league at Olathe Lanes. She spent many mornings hosting coffee gatherings as well as dinners with her neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and excel by attending as many school and sports events, birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays and the births of their children as she was able. She touched each one of them in a special way that they will never forget.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband, Douglas, and their loving children, Threasa, Jackie, and Sandy. She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren: Corin, Dacia, Jessica, Kyle, Kelsey, David, Jacqui, Tim, Mel, Dee, Katie, and Amy. Joyce's legacy continues through her family, which also includes 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and source of pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A visitation in honor of Joyce Pearl Wagster will be held on August 8, 2025, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Those who knew and loved Joyce are invited to come together to celebrate her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on everyone around her.
Joyce will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for her warmth, strength, and boundless love for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on through the memories shared by all who had the privilege to know her.
