Joseph C Burke passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 2nd, 2026.
Joe was born July 27th, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the second of four children born to Thomas Burke and Mary Burke.
Joe graduated from St. Edward High School in 1965 after growing up on the west side of Cleveland. He went on to earn a degree from Bowling Green State University. He pursued a career in Human Resources, assuming roles of increasing responsibility culminating in executive roles. He also served on the Board of Trustees of his beloved St Edward High School where he remains a Trustee Emeriti.
Joe was a wonderful man who lived life surrounded by friends and family who loved him. He was passionate about caring and providing for his family. He thoroughly enjoyed guiding his three sons through life’s journeys. He was always eager to help others and share his knowledge. Putting other’s needs before his own was a cornerstone of his personality.
Joe was a world traveler in his professional life as well as in his personal life. He was frequently joined by friends and family on trips both near and far. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his favorite sports teams, especially the Eagles of St. Edward High School. He was a fixture at St. Ed’s games, and later on their webcasts.
He is survived by his loving wife Amy, his sons Matthew (spouse Casey), Ryan (spouse Jess), and Daniel (spouse Meg), his sisters Pat and Ellen, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby. He will be sorely missed by countless friends and family members.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Amy and Joseph Burke ’65 Family Endowed Scholarship fund at St. Edward High School.
