John “Jack” Gregory Dvorak passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 73. He was born on February 28, 1952, in Madison, Wisconsin to John and Marie Dvorak.
Shorty after completing high school, Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy, which reflected his devotion to his country. He later built a career in civilian life as a skilled machinery technician, working for large corporations as well as small companies. Committed to lifelong learning, he earned his associate’s degree while actively employed. Jack’s interests extended well beyond his profession. He enjoyed a myriad of activities, including sports, traveling, exploring new places, spending time with family and working with his hands. He found relaxation and fulfillment in tending to his plants, landscaping, and improving the family home. Jack was also a lifelong animal lover who took special joy in the companionship of family pets.
Many who knew Jack regarded him as a brave yet humble man. He was a wonderful listener and a steady, reliable presence to those who knew him. He leaves behind many cherished memories with family and friends who will miss his kind and generous spirit. Jack is survived by his two stepdaughters, Una Nowling (Fiona) and Phoebe Rich (Wes); his stepfather, Harold Thompson (and wife Trudy); and his brothers, Dan Dvorak (Jenny) and Dale Dvorak (Lori). He will also be deeply missed by his nephews, as well as cousins, extended family, and friends.
