Mike (John Michael) Howell

Mike (John Michael) Howell, 77 of Olathe, died May 29, 2026, in his home surrounded by family. He was born on Feb 8, 1949, to John Howell and Nellie (Crawford) Howell in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mike went to school in Olathe and served in the Naval Reserves. He was a lifelong Johnson County Old Settler.

He married Nancy (Huston) Howell in 1974, and they had three children, David, Barbara and Nick.

Mike became a Registered Land Surveyor in 1979. He worked for Shafer Kline and Warren for fifteen years and worked at Payne & Brockway for around thirty years, becoming a partner in 1996, and retiring in 2023.

Mike is survived by his wife Nancy, sons David and Nick, daughter-in-law Andrea, grandson Elliot, siblings Ruth Alley of Lake Charles, LA, Larry Howell of Blue Springs, Mo, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie, stepfather Paul Howell, and daughter Barbara.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at Prince of Peace in Olathe, KS. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS.
