Joan Ewen Bible, 82, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She was born on February 28, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Margaret (Bridges) Ewen. Joan grew up surrounded by her family of aunts, uncles, and her mother, as her father passed away when she was five years old. Joan attended Westport High School and graduated in 1961, when she met her husband Bob. When they met, Bob was a junior and Joan was a senior. The two had each shown up to a school dance single when Bob approached Joan and asked her to dance. From there, they dated for two years before getting married. Joan attended her freshman year of college at Ottawa University, where she then joined Bob at the University of Kansas to achieve her associate’s degree in English. After Bob returned home from his military service, Joan and Bob had their son, Patrick, in September of 1971. At the time, Joan was employed as a supervisor for AT&T, where Bob eventually joined her. After retiring from AT&T, Joan and Bob devoted their time to help raise their two grandchildren. Although Joan’s time spent with her grandchildren made up only a portion of her life, it filled Austin and Ashlynn’s entire worlds up until the moment she passed. In her free time, Joan adored reading books and magazines as well as practicing various crafts such as sewing, crochet, and embroidery. Joan also greatly enjoyed regular shopping trips with her granddaughter, Ashlynn, where they bonded over thrifting especially. Her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, where her and Bob traveled to three times throughout their marriage. Most of all, however, Joan enjoyed spending quality time with her family.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Bobby Bible, her son, Patrick (Holly) Bible, and her grandchildren, Austin and Ashlynn Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret Ewen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Joan’s memory be made to the American Heart association in honor of heart health awareness and research. Heart.org
