Jill Diane Chavez

Jill Diane Chavez passed away on September 11, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on September 18, 1960, in Conway, Arkansas.

Jill will be remembered for the joy she found in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She had a deep love of music and especially loved attending concerts. Above all, Jill treasured time with her grandchildren and found great happiness in gathering her family at home for holidays, with Halloween holding a special place in her heart. Those celebrations, filled with warmth and togetherness, reflected the love she gave so freely to the people around her.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Chavez; her daughter, Cristy Hense, and Cristy’s husband, Scott; her son, Wesley Alexcites, and Wesley’s wife, Laura; her step-son, Brandon Chavez; and her step-daughter, Lauren Gonzales, and Lauren’s husband, Jeremiah. She is also survived by her mother, Nancy Westcott; her sisters, Janet Weidner and her husband, Steve, and Julie Shotton and her husband, Brad; her step-brothers, Frank Cook and Bill Cook; and her step-sisters, Maureen Kratzer, Teri Sheeley, Nancy Anderson, and Shirley Westcott, as well as eleven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jill’s family was the center of her life, and she leaves behind many loved ones who will carry her memory forward with affection and gratitude.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Edwards; her step-fathers, James Cook and Lewis Westcott; and her nephew, Carson Shotton.

A visitation will be held on September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 South Ridgeview Road, Olathe, Kansas 66061. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Jill Diane Chavez will be remembered for her love of family, her generous spirit, and the happiness she brought to everyday moments. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
