Jana Becker

October 15, 1957 — May 15, 2025

Jana Becker, a beloved wife, mother, friend, and community member passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. She was 67.

Born on October 15, 1957, the child of Bonnie Emmons Whaley and Ray Whaley, Jana brought light, warmth, and purpose into every space she entered. Known for her boundless compassion and gift for connecting with others, she was a cherished friend providing heartfelt advice and a joyful spirit. She seemed to adopt people wherever she went, becoming a second mom to many neighborhood kids, always offering a warm meal, an open door, and support, providing connection to those in need. Her home was often a gathering place filled with laughter, learning, and a sense of belonging.

An adventurous spirit, Jana loved to travel, creating cherished memories and lifelong stories with her loved ones along the way. Born in Virginia, her family relocated to Charlevoix, MI when she was 2. Her formative years were spent in Ada, Michigan, where she graduated from Forest Hills Central High school in 1976. She went on to complete a degree in Business Administration and Finance through Central Michigan University in 1980. She then married Rob Becker and moved to Boise, Idaho, where they raised their two children. In 2008, she moved to Seattle, Washington, with her husband Mike Huff. The couple settled in Olathe, Kansas in 2017. Throughout her adventures, Jana had a gift for forming deep, lasting friendships, and her close-knit circle of “best friends” is a testament to the loyalty, humor, and heart she brought to every relationship.

A natural leader, Jana excelled in multiple careers, where she was respected not only for her expertise but for her ability to mentor and inspire those around her. She served as Regional Sales Manager at Micron Technology where her talent for organization and her people-first approach earned her great admiration and success. She served as President of the PTA at her children’s schools, where she spearheaded initiatives with passion and care. More recently, she played a crucial role in organizing the Kansas Shrine Bowl, which brought together individuals in a spirit of camaraderie and charity.

Jana is survived by her loving husband, Mike Huff; her cherished daughter and son, Hailey Becker (Joseph Campos), and Rob Becker; her step-son, Chris Huff, her father, Ray Whaley; siblings, Suzanne Lake (Dennis) Willyard, Kevin (Jamie) Whaley, Paul (Jennifer) Whaley, and Scott (Kristie) Whaley; her grandsons, Austen, Houston, and Gibson Campos; her mother-in-law, Patricia Huff; sister-in-law, Laura (Bob) Hill; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Whaley; first husband, Rob Becker; father-in-law, David Huff; and brother-in-law, David Huff, Jr.

Jana's legacy is one of love, strength, and generosity. Her presence will be deeply missed, and the impact she made on those who knew her will live on in countless ways.
