James Dudley Crank

November 25, 1943 — May 30, 2025

James Dudley Crank, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on May 30, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas, at the age of 81.

Born on November 25, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, James lived a life marked by selflessness, service, faith, devotion and family.

James pursued a respectable career as a Clerk with the United States Postal Service, contributing to his community for many years. He rarely used his sick time and was always awarded for his dedication to showing up to work every day. Prior to this, he proudly served in the US Air Force, where he embraced the values of duty and commitment that he carried throughout his life. His dedication to service reflected an unwavering sense of duty, responsibility and dedication.

James valued education, having completed some college courses, but he valued hard work even more. He was a lifelong learner who cherished the knowledge he gained. He found joy in reading, particularly the Bible, which became one of his proudest accomplishments. He would study his bible every day and constantly strive to learn more. This passion for Scripture was a cornerstone of his faith and guided him in everything he did.

In his personal life, James had a deep love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Esther, and their children, Angela, Matt, who is married to Erin, and Jonathan, who is married to JoBeth.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Katarina, Liam, Aramis, Samuel, Landon and Lena, sister Carol, who is married to Everett, and several nieces and nephews. The family finds strength in their shared memories and the love that defined James’s relationships with them. James's legacy continues to thrive through his children and grandchildren, who were sources of immense joy and pride in his life.

James was also known for his dedication to his church, where he attended regularly and nurtured his spirituality. His commitment to faith not only enriched his own life but also touched the lives of many within his church community.

As we remember James Dudley Crank, we reflect on a man who led a life rooted in love, faith, and dedication. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
