J.Michael Moore

August 5, 1948 — May 7, 2025

Joseph Michael Moore, aka J.Michael Moore, a respected member of the community and a dedicated professional, entered the arms of his Saviour on May 7, 2025, at the age of 76 in Olathe, Kansas. Born on August 5, 1948, in Fort Ord, California, to James Thomas Moore, Sr and Jeanne Marie (Bailey) Moore. Mike’s life was marked by commitment to both his country, his profession, and his family.

As the son of an Army officer he was raised in Tokyo, Japan; La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, France, before settling back into southern California.

Mike proudly served in the United States Navy for 25 years, enlisting and finishing bootcamp while a senior at Rosemead High School, Rosemead, California. He demonstrated unwavering dedication and love for his country throughout his military career. Following his service, he went on to own and operate his own public accounting firm, where he earned a reputation for integrity and expertise.

His life changed forever in August 1970 when he met the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Jones. And after a short 6-week courtship they eloped to Miami, OK on September 14, 1970.

Mike was a volunteered at numerous organizations over the years such as Shawnee Mission LaSertoma, Johnson Old Settler’s Association, and helping to facilitate Parkinson’s support groups.

He is survived by his beloved and favorite daughter, Carrie Lea Riddle (James) of the home, and his favorite son Jody Michael Moore of Olathe. In addition to his children, Mike is remembered by his grandson, Laine Michael Moore, whom he helped raise, five bonus grandchildren, Alyssa, Tristan, Cill, D., and Jennifer; brother, Dennis Ray Moore of California; three sisters-in-laws, Virginia Irene Main of Nevada, Barbara Jenkins (Tom) of Nebraska, Loretta Capenter (John) of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Tom Cooper of Olathe; numerous nieces and nephews; best friends and brother and sister of the heart, Dan and Elaine Hodges of Olathe; and his Faith Baptist Church family who cherished their time with him and will carry on his legacy in their hearts.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents: brothers, James Thomas Moore Jr, Patrick Eugene Moore, Keith Robert Moore and his dear wife of 53 years, Carolyn Moore, who was a constant source of love and support throughout their life together.

His dedication to family, especially his late wife Carolyn in her Parkinson’s battle, his profession, and his country will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As an accomplished veteran, a business owner, a family man, and a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation J.Michael Moore leaves behind a legacy of service and excellence that will resonate for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Mike’s memory be made to the Faith Baptist Youth Fund.
