George E. Rider

George Ernest Rider of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on April 9, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1953, in Kansas City, Kansas to Jim and Helen Rider. George is survived by his wife, Jeannene; children, Lauren (and husband Eric), Sarah (and wife Sam), and Zach (and wife Danielle); and grandchildren, Charlotte, Thomas, James, Elizabeth, Jack, and Charlie. George built a legacy as an honorable, driven, and hard-nosed attorney through his intelligence, wisdom, and integrity. He was a genuine and loyal friend. George’s jovial personality, adventurous spirit, and unparalleled generosity were complemented by a characteristically ornery nature. George was an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to know him. “Strong as an ox” until his last breath, Big George’s rehabilitation journey after suffering a spinal cord injury later in life was powered by confidence, stoicism, full-bore determination, and sheer stubbornness. Forever by his side before and after the accident was his devoted family. As a family-oriented Hubbin, Dad, and Papa, George was cherished for his soft-spoken empathy, prideful encouragement, hilarious wit, and steadfast love. The family wishes to thank George’s nurses, doctors, physical/occupational therapists, caretakers, friends, and extended family for their care, compassion, and beautifully relentless support. A funeral service will be held on April 16 at Penwell-Gabel in Olathe, Kansas at 11am.
