(Kathleen)Freddie Mae Nelson departed this life on January 22, 2026.

Kathleen (Walker) Nelson was born to Nathaniel Walker and Naomi Moses in Kansas City, MO on February 25, 1941. Married to Leon Nelson on June 16, 1961 for 64 years.

She accepted Christ at an early age and united with 35th st Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of late Pastor RC Black. In 1986 God called pastor Leon Nelson and First Lady Nelson to lead their own ministry at First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for 20 years until their retirement. In 2010 she joined New Light Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Gooden. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the J.C. Gospel Singers.

She worked for the government for over 30 years as a computer operations manager and worked for the Grandview School District for over 10 years.

She is preceded in death by her mother Naomi Moses, father Nathaniel Walker, brother Roland Walker, sister Lillian Pearson, second mother Sylvia Warren and grandson Justin Nelson.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three brothers; Nathaniel Walker, Marshall Walker, and Edward Moses Sr., seven sisters; Willie Jean Walker, Patricia (Walker) Gaines (Gene), Glenda Walker, Nancy Walker, Jacqueline Walker, Charlotte (Moses) Broughton (Steve), and Sherry Moses. Three sons; Eddie Nelson, Deanthony Nelson and Leon Nelson Jr., Three daughters; Sonya Taylor, Lawonda Gooden and Janette Jones. 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
