Frederick "Rick" William Barber

Rick was born on November 17, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. He lived in Roeland Park, Kansas in his youth and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1974. He was a member of the ROTC.

Rick worked as a mechanic, then volunteered at Mission Fire Department and was then hired in 1978.

He enjoyed working with the local Boy Scout Troop and always had a passion for automobiles. He retired as a driver for CFD2. He was very mechanical, analytical, and methodical; skills he carried with him his entire life.

He was a quiet man by nature, but he was always ready to help a friend, fix a car, build a deck, etc.

He married Heather in 1981 and they enjoyed many trips to Cancun and other places – even making a trip to Ireland!

Rick was always a KC Chiefs fan and a lover of animals.

He will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Operation Wildlife, 23375 Guthrie Rd Linwood, KS 66052.
