Frederick Elson Miller, Jr., 88, recently of Spring Hill, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He was born on June 1, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Frederick and Emma (Johnson) Miller.
He lived with his parents in Kansas City, MO until they moved to a farm near Liberty, MO. He graduated High School from Liberty High School, in Liberty MO. He and Willie (Pat) were married June 26, 1965. They had two daughters, Emilee in 1972 and Michelle in 1980.
Fred got his Bachelor of Science in Education at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. He later went on to become a journeyman plumber and machinist. He retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO. After retirement he moved to Spring Hill, KS to be closer to family.
He was a devout Christian his entire life. In earlier years he loved singing in the choir and volunteering in the church nursery. Since moving to Spring Hill, KS he belonged to Life Spring Church. He enjoyed his new church home and very much looked forward to the weekly fellowship with the church’s men’s group.
He always enjoyed being outside, taking care of his yard, and socializing with neighbors. He never met a stranger and deeply touched the lives of those around him.
He loved his family immensely. Fred is survived by his two daughters, Emilee (JR) Griese-Blair and Michelle (Nathan) Reid, seven grandchildren, Austin Liberto-Griese, Joseph Liberto-Griese, Jasper Griese, Lilyann Blair, EmmaAnn Blair, Scarlett Reid, Miller Reid and two Step Grandsons Gavin Blair and Rylan Blair.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie (Pat) Miller, on May 30th, 2010.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m.
