Frances M. Schreiber

Frances Marie (Floyd) Schreiber, 97, of Olathe, KS peacefully passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 24th at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.

Frances was born on August 14, 1927 in Jupiter, Florida to Joseph Robert and Agnes Mary (Peskett) Floyd. Frances graduated from Jupiter High School and was employed in the Jupiter area when she met Alvin Schreiber, who was stationed in Jupiter with the US Army Air Corps.

Frances and Alvin were married on October 7, 1951. Because of military assignments, they lived in various locations throughout the southern United States. They eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL and raised their four children Carol Frances, Nancy Louise, Joanne Leslie, and Bruce Alvin.

Frances was a homemaker and devoted mother. Frances was very active in her children’s schools and activities including baking for class parties, providing cupcakes to her children’s classes and participating in other school activities. Her cooking and baking skills provided healthy and nourishing meals for her family. She always made her children’s favorite meals for their birthdays along with beautifully decorated cakes. Using her sewing skills, her children enjoyed the clothes she made for them.

Frances and Alvin loved to travel and visited the forty-eight contiguous states, visiting the historic and cultural sites that always held their interests. While relaxing at home, Frances enjoyed reading and word search puzzles. She also enjoyed an afternoon cup of tea and sharing with her friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alvin, her parents Joseph and Agnes Floyd, brothers Joseph Floyd, David Floyd, George Floyd, and sister Lillian Ledford.

Frances is survived by daughter Carol (Phillip) Magerus of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter Nancy (Edward) Small of Fulshear, TX; daughter Leslie (Sean) Wright of DeSoto, KS; and son Bruce Schreiber of Johnson City, TN. Grandchildren Derek Wright of Merriam, KS; Sarah Laws of Kansas City, MO; Stefanie Clark of Fulshear, TX; Bradley Small of Tempe, AZ and three great grandsons Derek Wright, Jr., Liam Clark and Beau Wright.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Penwell-Gabel's Olathe Chapel. Following the service, the family will receive guests for a visitation until 3:00pm.
