Eugene "Gene" Bailey Cramer, born on March 28, 1929, in Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas, at the remarkable age of 96. He lived a life filled with dedication, family, and professional achievement.
Gene pursued his education at the University of Missouri Kansas City, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He carved out a successful career, serving as Traffic Manager for CGB Fertilizer and later taking on the role of Director of Transportation for ConAgra. His professional journey reflects his commitment and expertise, which were evident in every endeavor he undertook.
During his lifetime, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas State Wildcats.
Throughout his life, Gene's career called him to many different regions, residing in Knoxville, Tennessee, Dallas, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona. Gene and Rosie eventually returned to Olathe, Kansas, where he was active in the Jaycees, softball, and bowling. Gene was also a co-founder of the Pop Warner Football League in Olathe, KS.
Gene was a devoted family man who found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Joy (Larry) Custer; his son, Jeff (Cindy) Cramer; two grandchildren; Lindsey (Joe) Furmanek and TJ (Anna) Cramer, four great-grandchildren, Isabella Cramer, Sophia Cramer, Aceyn Furmanek, and Decima Furmanek, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him fondly for the love and wisdom he shared.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Rosalee "Rosie" Cramer, his parents, Charles and Edith Cramer, his brothers Charles, Ernest and Ervin Cramer, and his sisters Dorothy Davis and Geneva Hoselton.
Gene's family wishes to thank Heritage of Overland Park for the love and kindness he received while in their care.
Gene’s legacy lives on through his family, who will continue to cherish the memories of his life. The impact he had on those around him will be remembered for generations to come.
The family welcomes friends to join them for a time of visitation on Saturday, February 21 from 2:00pm-4:30pm at Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel, 14275 S. Black Bob Rd, Olathe, Kansas 66062. There will be no services following the visitation. Burial will take place at a later date at the Peninsula Cemetery in Blackwater, Missouri.
