Ernest "Ernie" Anthony Cardenzana, born on March 12, 1948, in Albia, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas. He will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew him. Ernie's life journey began in the heartland of Iowa, where he was born and raised before eventually making Olathe, Kansas, his home. Throughout his life, he exhibited a character defined by kindness, dedication, and a strong commitment to family and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Helene Cardenzana, who stood steadfastly by his side; his daughters, Lynn Norton, Lisa Cochran, and Barbara Kabler, along with Barbara’s husband Jeremy; grandchildren Nicholas Cardenzana, Benjamin Norton, Julie Norton, Alexis Connelly and her husband Devin, Gabriel Valencia, Madison Cochran, Mason Kabler, and Jackson Valencia; as well as great-grandchildren Aiden Cardenzana, Rowan Cardenzana, and Raeleah Culpepper. Ernie also leaves behind many wonderful cousins and friends who cherished his companionship and warmth. Ernie's family grieves the loss of their son, Michael Valencia, and grandchild, Amia Kabler, who predeceased him, along with his devoted parents.
A Rosary will be held in Ernie’s honor at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas, located at 14275 S Black Bob Rd, on May 3, 2026, beginning promptly at 1:00 p.m. This service will provide a moment of reflection and prayer for all who wish to pay their respects. Following the Rosary, a Memorial Service will commence at 1:30 p.m. at the same location, celebrating Ernie’s life, the legacy he leaves behind, and the impact he made on those around him. Ernie Anthony Cardenzana’s memory will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. His life serves as a testament to the values of love, family, and resilience. He will be deeply missed, and his presence forever cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
