Donald Joseph LaBelle

Donald Joseph LaBelle, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He was born on September 8, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, to James and Grace LaBelle.

Don grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, attended Westport High School and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Kansas, where he met his wife, Sharon. Following his undergraduate degree, he entered the Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Vietnam war. His son (Todd LaBelle) and daughter (Renee Cacchillo) were both born when he served overseas.

On his return from the military, Don started his career in Public Administration and moved frequently to grow and develop in his career. He retired from Alameda County, California in 2006 and returned to reside in Overland Park, Kansas.

In retirement, Don and Sharon visited many countries, traveling with friends and family frequently. His true passion came from his three granddaughters, Katie, Rachel, and Chloe all born in the same year.

Beyond his love for his family and friends, Don was also an avid KU and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a fantastic grill cook and margarita maker, making special get togethers even more special.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon LaBelle, his son Todd and wife Soo, daughter Renee and husband Dave, his granddaughters and his sister Susan LaBelle.
