Donald E. Deemer

Donald E. Deemer, 80, of Spring Hill, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Don was born on August 5, 1945, in Ravenna, Ohio, to Alva and Sarah Deemer. He grew up in Ohio and graduated from Windham High School with the class of 1964. On June 14, 1969, he married Nancy McElwee in Bethesda, Maryland. Don later graduated from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and built a career serving as the Director of Credit for the Maytag Corporation until his retirement in 2008.

Don was a selfless man who put the needs of others before his own, caring deeply for his family and friends. He expressed his warmth in many ways, including his passion for baking cookies, a tradition that brought joy to everyone around him. His generous spirit shone through in his community, where he volunteered his time running the bingo games at his wife’s nursing home, bringing smiles and laughter to the residents.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Sarah; his three brothers, Harold Deemer, Alva Deemer, Jr., and Bill Deemer; and his sister, Candace Ryan.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Deemer; his children, Terrie (Matt) Meade of Overland Park, Kansas, and Kenny Deemer of Lakewood, Colorado; his siblings, Dolly Shanley and David Deemer; and his grandson, Lance Meade.

Service Information:

• Visitation: Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
• Location: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, 14251 Nall Avenue, Leawood, KS.
• Mass of Christian Burial: Following the visitation at 11:00 AM.
• Burial: A private family burial will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated in memory of Don Deemer for achalasia research at the Mayo Clinic.
