Diane Marie (Lambert) Letcher Diane Marie (Lambert) Letcher, a resident of Meadowbrook South in Gardner, KS passed into the heavenly realm on March 27, 2026.
Diane was born December 29, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, the second child of Howard and Evelyn (Moro) Lambert. Her family moved before her senior year in high school, and although she graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago, she kept in touch with several classmates from Rich Township High School and considered that her alma mater.
Diane married George LeRoy Letcher in September of 1961. They were married for 62 years. Two of their children, Jeanise Reynolds (Enid, OK) and Carlene Stueve (Gardner, KS) were born in Chicago. The family moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1964. Over the years, three additional children joined the family: James Letcher (Lawrence, KS), Carol Sneed (Edmond, OK), and John Letcher (Defuniak Springs, FL). All five Letcher children graduated from Enid High School.
Diane and her family were active members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid where she taught CCD classes for many years. Diane was able to stay home to care for her family for many years. She volunteered as a Camp Fire Girls leader, was a member of the Rosary Circle, and was a member of the school PTO when her children were young. She also helped her husband George lead a Boy Scout troop and pack. Diane was also a lifetime blood donor through the American Red Cross. She loved flowers and plants and them wherever she lived. Diane worked in Housekeeping at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid and was proud of the work she did there. She later worked at Walmart stores in both Kansas and Oklahoma. She made many friends through her work.
In 2006, she and George moved to Kansas. They were members of St. Benedict’s Church while living in Atchison and of Sacred Heart / St. Joseph Parish in Topeka before moving to Gardner, KS where Diane became a member of Divine Mercy Parish while living at Meadowbrook South. Diane's faith was an integral part of her life. She made friends easily and reached out and cared for others when she saw they needed help.
In her later years, Diane enjoyed arts and crafts, coloring, playing bingo and visiting botanical gardens with her daughter. Diane was preceded in death by her husband George. She is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
