David H. Vaught, aged 75, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, in Olathe, Kansas surrounded by his family. Born on April 30, 1949, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, David was a lifelong resident of the Midwest. He graduated from the University of Nebraska - Omaha, which laid the foundation for his successful career in accounting.
David was known for a quiet demeanor, hard-working nature, and a dry sense of humor that brought much amusement to those around him. He was a devoted family man, always present at his grandchildren's sporting and school events, and cherished time spent joking with his kids and grandkids. An avid sports fan, David's love for the Cardinals baseball team was only rivaled by his passion for CornHusker football.
Beyond his love for sports, David took pleasure in tending to his yard, walking his dog, and enjoying the simple pleasures of family life. His presence was a comforting and stabilizing force within the family.
David leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Maureen Vaught; his children, Angela Sharma (Terry), Katie Rodriguez (Shaun), Michael Vaught (Danthea) and Lindsay Vaught (Christopher); and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Caroline, Ian, Colette, Graham, and Claire. He is also survived by his sister, Sylvia Helkenn (Chip), and brother, Jim Vaught. David was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Vaught.
David's life was a testament to the values of selflessness, dedication, humor, and love, which will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him. His legacy will be cherished and remembered by his loved ones and the community.
