David H. Reno

David Holmes Reno, born May 19, 1943, in Samantha, Ohio, passed away on April 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

 A 1961 graduate of Washington Court House High School, David pursued several careers over the years and most recently worked as a salesperson at Cabela’s. In September 1965 he married his beloved Nancy Marting; together they raised two children and built a life filled with family and shared memories. David enjoyed gardening, fishing, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Reno; son J.D. Reno (Anousanh); daughter Kathy C. Thompson (Scott); grandchildren Nicole Hoffman (Trent), Sophie Hanna (Wade), Nate Thompson (Sally), and Jonas Reno; great-grandchildren Archie and Graham Hanna, Teddy and Charlie Thompson, and Gabe and Madelyn Hoffman; sisters Susan Reno Wolfrom and Nancy Reno Etter.

 A casual visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, from 3–5 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home
