Daryl Lee Cox

Daryl Lee Cox, 70, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. He was born on November 11, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas to Eldon and Alma (Johnson) Cox.

Daryl grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents moved to Lee’s Summit in 1970. Daryl attended Lee’s Summit High School and graduated in 1972.

Daryl met his wife, Cecelia, in Kansas City, MO in 1975 through mutual friends. They married on February 5, 1977. They had three children, all born in Kansas City, MO. The family resided in the Kansas City area until they relocated to Olathe, KS in the late 80s.

Daryl was an engineer for The Fagan Company. Daryl then began working for Design Mechanical where he worked his way up to Vice-President before his retirement in 2024. Daryl continued providing consulting services for Design Mechanical until his death.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife, Cecelia Cox, his children, Ryan Cox and Jocelyn Cox, his brother Gary Cox, his grandchildren Anthony Cox, Marcus Cox, Nathaniel Cox, & Elizabeth Cox, and his great-grandchildren Maverick & Calla.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Alma Cox, and his son Jeremy Cox.

The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Penwell-Gabel’s Olathe Chapel, with visitation following from 6:00-8:00 pm. A Mass of Catholic Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe. Daryl will be interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Daryl’s memory be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
