Dana Francene Freeman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Paola, Kansas. Born on December 1, 1948, in Clarksville, Arkansas, Francene's life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and the enduring power of family.
Francene and Darrel started DF Freeman Contractors in 1985 and operated the business together for many years They were a support system for each other in their business as well as in their personal life. They provided a solid example for their children, who now carry on the business following in their parents' footsteps.
Central to Francene's life was her cherished family. She was married to her devoted husband, Darrel Freeman, with whom she shared a loving partnership since their marriage on September 28, 1965. Their union stood as one of her proudest accomplishments, reflecting decades of shared love and unwavering support that enriched her life beyond measure.
Francene was a nurturing mother to her children: Todd Freeman, Monte Freeman and his wife Angie, and Nicki Knop and her husband Scott. She delighted in the company of her grandchildren—Derrick, Kendall, Devon, Kaleb, Logan, Cameron, Gaige, and Carissa—and took immense joy in her role as a great-grandmother to three wonderful great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she invested deeply in their happiness and success.
Family ties extended warmly through her siblings: Sharon Masingale and her husband Wayne, Lynda Tipton, Peggy Spindler, Roy Pannell Jr. and his wife, Nancy, William Pannell and his wife, Vicki, and Glen Pannell and his wife Sheila. These relationships brought a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, and support.
Francene's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on her family and friends. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit endures through the lives she touched and the family she so lovingly raised.
