Clarence E. (Casey) Case

Clarence Eugene Case, lovingly known as Casey, was born December 19, 1935, in Hill City, Kansas, to Charles and Augusta Case. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on August 7, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas.

Casey grew up in Salina, Kansas, where he graduated from Salina Central High School in 1954. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a radioman, eventually reaching the rank of First Class Petty Officer. After his service in the Navy, Casey attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology.

On January 2, 1958, Clarence married the love of his life, Dixie Lou Lapaille, at St. John the Baptist Church in Clyde, Kansas. Together, they built a life centered around family and raised three children, Michelle, Gregory, and Stephanie. Of all his accomplishments, his family was his greatest source of pride and joy, and he treasured the many years, memories, and milestones they shared together.

After college, Casey began his career in the credit industry before joining the State of Kansas as a financial examiner for the Consumer Credit Commissioner. In 1977, he started his own company, CD Investment and Loan, in Salina, Kansas. Later in his career, Casey worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in asset marketing for 10 years before retiring in 1998.

Throughout his life, Casey made meaningful contributions to his profession and community. He served as president of the Kansas Association of Finance Companies and was a charter member and one of the incorporators of the Kansas Guarantee Corporation. He also served on the boards of directors for the Kansas Association of Finance Companies and the Kansas Investment Certificate Companies.

Casey knew how to enjoy life outside of work as well. He loved hunting, fishing, and golf. In retirement, he enjoyed making doll furniture, reading, traveling, and working puzzles. He was also a loyal sports fan who enthusiastically cheered for K-State basketball and football, while still making room for KU basketball. Those who knew Casey will remember his strong work ethic, his love of family, and the pride he took in the people and things that mattered most to him.

Casey was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Case and Augusta Samuelson Case, and his brothers, Clyde Case and Charles Case. He is survived by his loving wife, Dixie Case; children, Michelle Case, Gregory Case (Mamie), and Stephanie Daugherty (Scott); sisters, Carol Christian and Charlene Braden; grandchildren, Samantha Daugherty (Jennifer), William Case, Andrew Case (Caeley), and Spencer Daugherty (Brianna); and great-grandchild, Paisley Sue Daugherty.

Casey lived a full life marked by hard work, service, accomplishment, and, above all, love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest legacy can be found in the family he loved so deeply. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring smiles, stories, and comfort to those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
