Christopher David Groom of Olathe, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2025, at the age of 44. Born November 1, 1980, to Larry Jean Groom and Joyce (Groom) Hansen, Chris was raised in Kirksville and Memphis, Missouri, with his brother Kevin and sister April. After attending Kirksville High School, Christopher graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, in 2003. While in Kansas City, he met his wife Stephanie Drogan, also a graduate of William Jewell College.

In addition to his wife of 14 years Stephanie (Drogan) Groom, Chris is survived by his daughter Elise Hayden Groom and his mother Joyce (Groom) Hansen. Survivors also include brother Kevin Groom of Pensacola, Florida, sister April (Groom) Wood and husband Brad of Memphis, Missouri, sister-in-law Cheryl Drogan of Charlotte, North Carolina, and sister-in-law Erica (Drogan) Hillow and husband Robert of Bay Village, Ohio. He is survived by his nieces, Hadley Groom, Calloway Groom, Ainsley Wilson and nephews, Ian Wilson, Theodore Hillow and Ben Hillow. Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Larry Jean Groom, grandparents, Marion and Verena Groom, Harold and Barbara Christy, aunt Linda Miller and uncles David Christy, Doyle Groom, and Ronald Miller.

Chris was an extraordinary person whose warmth and humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He had a rare ability to make people laugh, often brightening the room with his sharp sense of humor and quick wit.

A self-taught electric guitarist and passionate Chiefs fan, Chris made his career in sales in the Kansas City Metro Area in ophthalmology (Essilor, Cooper Vision) and payroll services (ADP). Professionally, Chris was hardworking and driven. His charisma and interpersonal skills truly shined in the sales field. He approached his work with dedication and integrity, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

A devoted family man, Chris deeply loved his wife, daughter, and extended family. His relationships were the heart of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with those he loved. His friendships were genuine and lasting—a testament to his loyal nature.

Chris will be forever loved, missed, and remembered. His spirit lives on in the laughter he inspired, the love he gave so freely, and the lives he touched along the way.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00am at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home Olathe, KS, on Saturday October 4, 2025.  Funeral services will follow at10:00 am.
