Listen to Obituary

Christine Ingeborg Searcy Roberts passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, with her daughter Angela by her side.

Christine was born on August 18, 1939, in Vienna, Austria, to Hedwig Voelkl LeFors. As a teenager, she immigrated to the United States with her mother and sister, Lucille. She later met and fell in love with Talmadge Searcy, whom she married on August 21, 1957.

A woman who deeply valued education, Christine worked while pursuing her higher education and raising her family. She and Talmadge welcomed two daughters, Angela and Veronica, while Christine completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from New Mexico State University. During this time, she was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She went on to teach German at a high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before beginning a distinguished career as a Civil Servant for the United States government. Christine retired in 1997 after 21 years of service as a Personnel Officer, GS-13.

Following Talmadge’s passing in 1982, Christine later married James Roberts on February 18, 1986. Together they spent many years traveling the world, including time living in Germany, before eventually settling near her daughter Angela in retirement.

Christine took great pride in her many accomplishments, but those who knew her best understood that her greatest joy came from her family. She especially cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her intelligence, quick wit, generous heart, love of reading, and passion for language—but above all, for the deep love she had for her family.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Hedwig; both of her husbands, Talmadge and James; her daughter, Veronica; and her sister, Lucille.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Williams (David); her stepson Michael Roberts (Marilyn); her grandson, Justin Williams (Amy); her granddaughter, Brittany Reinke (Keven); and her most cherished treasures—her seven great-grandchildren: Micah, Shelby, Brenna, Aidan, Benjamin, Leo, and Miles.
