Cheryl Ann Carley

Cheryl Ann Carley beloved wife of Terry Carley, 77, of Lenexa, KS, found her peace on October 10th, 2024 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

She was born on December 28th, 1946 to Ralph and Marie Starr in San Francisco, CA.

Cheryl, a retired United States Marine of 25 years was the recipient of numerous accolades during her service and retired from the United States Marine Corps on March 31st of 2001 having attained the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9).

After her retirement from the Marine Corps, Cheryl enjoyed volunteering her time with different charitable organizations. She also enjoyed crafts, including knitting, crocheting and ceramics among others. She was an avid walker and runner as shown by her numerous medals.

On September 17th, 1978, Terry was blessed when they were joined in marriage in San Diego, CA.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband Terry, her sisters Marie Claire Starr and Rosemary Morris, and brother Peter Starr. Her daughter Cathleen Dobogai and son Matthew Dobogai and grandchildren Samantha, Easton and Eli. Also, by her nephew, Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marie Starr.

A memorial service will be held on November 5th at the Penwell – Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS.

Cheryl will be laid to rest at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS following the memorial service.
