Listen to Obituary

Charles Brandon Bartels, 50, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on April 13, 2026, at 5:04 PM, peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Kelly, surrounded by his children and family.

Brandon, as he was known to most, was born to Steve and Debbie Bartels. He was the middle child, between his older brother Bryan and younger sister Angie. Raised in the suburbs of Overland Park, Kansas, Brandon attended Shawnee Mission West High School, where he excelled on the basketball team. After graduating, he continued his basketball career at Fort Scott Community College.

During his youth, Brandon attended Morris Baptist Chapel, where he found and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. It was also during this time that he met his future bride, Kelly.

"I believe in lovin’ with your whole soul and destroying anything that wants to kill what you love." – Yellowstone

That quote perfectly reflects who Brandon was. He lived with fierce loyalty, protecting and cherishing those he loved, and giving everything he had for them. He remained devoted to his high school sweetheart for over 30 years. Kelly was his world, and their love never wavered.

Their two children, Lindsey and Bryan, were his greatest purpose. Whether it was a basketball game, baseball trip, or any moment that mattered, Brandon was always there supporting, cheering, and showing up without hesitation.

Brandon had many passions in life. Most weekends, he could be found smoking BBQ, watching baseball in the garage, spending time on the lake enjoying sunsets with Kelly, or working on their property in Perry, Kansas.

He spent over 20 years in manufacturing, beginning as a technician and later advancing into an operations manager role. During his career with Procter & Gamble and Flora, he became known as a dedicated and passionate professional. The relationships he built over the years were a true reflection of his character and the respect he earned.

In one final act of selflessness, Brandon gave the gift of life through organ donation, allowing his legacy to live on in others. During his honor walk, he was surrounded by a sea of family and friends who filled the halls, showing their love, respect, and gratitude as he made his final journey.

A celebration of Brandon’s life will be held on April 25th at 3:00 PM at the family’s property at the corner of Marion & Labette Road in Perry, Kansas. Food, drinks, and shared stories will follow at Sunnyside Grill, 6049 W Lake Road, Ozawkie, Kansas 66070.

Brandon is survived by his wife, Kelly; his daughter, Lindsey; and his son, Bryan, all of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Steve and Debbie Bartels; his brother, Bryan Bartels; his sister, Angie Usry; and numerous nieces and nephews who will deeply miss their uncle.

His legacy of love, loyalty, and strength will live on in all who knew him.
