Carol Ann (Bushell) Manion, 78, passed away peacefully September 8th, 2026, at Maggie’s Place in Overland Park, KS. Carol was born February 2, 1948 in Dodge City, KS to parents Dale and Betty Jean (Summers) Bushell. Carol was a graduate of Dodge City High School in 1966. She attended Dodge City Community College, and then Washburn University in Topeka, KS, and graduated with a degree in Spanish in 1970.
Carol married her college sweetheart, Gerald “Kirk” Manion on July 3, 1971. They lived in both Topeka and Dodge City, where they eventually raised their family. She was a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In 1998, they moved to Branson West, MO. Over the years, Carol worked in retail, accounting, and healthcare settings and eventually retired from Mary’s Well House in 2014, where she assisted the medical team serving Silver Dollar City employees.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Phillip Bushell, and her sister Marie Bushell Gall.
She is survived by her husband, her son Rick Alan Manion of Gilbert, AZ, her daughter Shelly Nicole (Manion) Buse, son-in-law Leo Heny Buse IV, and her beloved granddaughter Bailey Reese Buse all living in Olathe, KS. She is also survived by her sister Donita Murphy of Las Vegas, NV, sister Nancy Ruby and her husband Bob, of Hutchinson, and brother Ralph Bushell and his wife Margie, of Wichita, KS.
Carol loved to play cards, bake with her granddaughter, listen to music (her beloved Andy Williams of course), and enjoyed all the entertainment that the Branson area could provide. Carol’s smile, light, and sense of humor created many connections and friendships along the way. Thank you to all those friends, neighbors and family members who contributed to her beautiful life.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Penwell-Gabel’s Olathe Chapel.
