Beverlee L. Lopez passed away at her home on August 24, 2025. She leaves behind many friends who admired her spirit and dedication to helping others.
Beverlee was born September 2, 1951 in Nashville, Illinois to Ralph and Alice(Sachse) Anderson. The family later moved to Overland Park, KS where Beverlee graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School. She then attended the University of Kansas and was a proud Jayhawk and member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She graduated from the University of Kansas School of nursing and began her career as a nurse, working at several area hospitals.
During her early years as a nurse, she met and married Roberto Lopez-Plata, MD who was a general surgeon. Roberto and Beverlee had a long and loving marriage.
Beverlee retired from her work as an emergency room nurse at Overland Park Regional Hospital to care for Roberto at the end of his life. She then devoted herself to volunteering for many causes including tutoring elementary school students and working with LGBTQIA youth. She also served others by becoming a congregational care minister.
Beverlee is predeceased by her parents, her brother Douglas Anderson and her husband Roberto Lopez. She is survived by her aunt, Jill Hampton, niece, Jennifer Hampton(Ashley Burnett), grandnieces and a grandnephew of Las Vegas, NV whom she adored, as well as her aunt Lynne Meier of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Willow.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 620 E Armour Blvd, KC, MO at 11 AM Saturday, September 6. Donations to pet rescue charities are recommended.
