Listen to Obituary

Barbara May Victorine passed away peacefully at home in Gardner, KS on September 6, 2026. Barbara was mostly a homemaker and mother, and she did that well. She loved crafting of every kind. If she took a liking to it, she went all in. She sewed clothes for us when we were young. She knitted up to about a year ago. She had an Apple computer early on and we used to say she knew more about how to work the computer than the rest of us did. She did ceramics, punch rug. But I think her favorite hobby was making sure her husband and children were well-cared for.

Barbara married Richard John Victorine on September 8, 1951. Her second oldest child was born on their second anniversary. It seems fitting that she passed so close to their 75th anniversary.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents, her only sister Evelyn June Turner, her husband Richard, her infant son Charles Edward, her daughter Nancy Victorine-Dold, her grandson David Victorine, and her son-in-law David C. Mitchell. She is survived by John Victorine, Barbara Mitchell, James Victorine, Susan (Mark) Johnson, Thomas (Lori) Victorine and Betty Friedel, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no services, per her request. She will be interred at Arlington Cemetery with Richard.

An offering of love may be made to Phoenix Home Care & Hospice, 6803 W 64th Street, Suite 101, Overland Park, KS 66202, or a place close to your heart.
