Listen to Obituary

Bailey Tanner Throssell, the light and life to any room he entered, passed away on August 28th, 2026, at the young age of 21. He was born in Dallas, TX on April 14th, 2005. He learned to walk, run, and climb out of his crib early, leaving us forever running after him.

At three, he mastered riding a bike without training wheels. In school, Bailey loved drawing, solving Rubik’s cubes (in record time), and playing the trumpet and piano. In 4th grade, he ran away from school during recess once (and made it all the way home - 1.5 miles)! He loved exploring the creek and park near his home and playing with his three younger siblings.

He mastered trampoline tricks, and tree and rock climbing. His first pair of shoes were Vans – securing his future as a skateboarder. Skateboarding was a favorite pastime, and he would drop anything to go do that instead. At skate parks or in the driveway, he spent hours mastering tricks and sending the videos to impress his family and friends.

He attended Olathe North High School (graduating in 2023), where he was part of the Geoscience Academy. Out in nature was where he was happiest: hiking, wading in creeks, and discovering wildlife. He excelled on the diving team – making it to State his Senior year. He was part of the Mr. Eagle boys’ beauty pageant and won first place for “Formal Wear” and third place overall!

Bailey then attended The University of Central Missouri. He loved UCM and worked in the Union, putting on events and creating social media content. He was studying Sport Management and had plans to work in Parks and Recreation. During the summers following his Freshman and Sophomore year, he was a camp counselor in Boulder, CO - a very special place to him! He loved working with kids and teaching mountain boarding. He was part of the AKL Fraternity and cherished being part of that brotherhood.

He enjoyed listening to music and it was the background to everything he did. He felt a connection with many songs and knew every word as he sang along. He even wrote some of his own music and taught himself the ukelele. If he came across a piano, he would jump right on, playing old favorite songs or teaching himself new ones.

Bailey had an enormous heart and never wanted anyone to feel left out. He was a friend to the lonely and would seek out those who needed a friend. He was energetic and funny and had a passion for life. He was tender-hearted and felt things deeply.

Bailey was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Robin Throssell.

Bailey is survived by his parents, Spencer and Stephanie; his siblings Holden, Gretchen and Kendall; maternal grandparents: Morris and Suzanne Withers; paternal grandfather, Lane Throssell, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
