Adam Utz

Adam Utz was born on December 19, 1980, in Newton, Kansas, and passed away on July 10, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Adam graduated from Wichita West High School before attending MidAmerica Nazarene University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in 2003. After college, he worked in sales for many years, primarily in the software industry.

Adam will be remembered for his sense of humor, caring heart, and adventurous spirit. This was evident in his never passing up the opportunity to play a practical joke. He loved music, basketball, card games, and spending time at the lake with his daughters. Adam had a way of making people laugh and never took life too seriously.

While at MidAmerica Nazarene, Adam had an outstanding athletic career. He helped lead the men's basketball team to the 2001 NAIA National Championship game and four straight National Tournament appearances. During his time at MNU, the team won conference regular season and tournament championships, and Adam earned All-Conference honors three times, was named an NAIA All-American, and received the MNU Male Athlete of the Year award in 2003. He was also a member of the 2003 conference championship football team. In 2011, Adam was inducted into the MidAmerica Nazarene University Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements.

Although Adam was proud of his accomplishments in athletics, nothing meant more to him than being a father. His daughters, Harper, Sidney, and Korbin, were his greatest pride and joy. He loved them deeply and was incredibly proud of the young women they are becoming.

Adam was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Mechelle Utz.

He is survived by his daughters, Harper Utz, Sidney Utz, and Korbin Utz; his sisters, Melissa Hague (Neil Hague) and Faith Price (Matt Price); and his nieces and nephews, Ana, Katie, Lili, Peydon, Autumn, Lincoln, and Zoey.

Adam will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, love for his family, and the positive impact he had on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
