In Memory Of
William "Bill" F. Scherzer
1940 - 2023

William F. Scherzer, III “Bill” passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023 at the age of 82, in Olathe, KS.

Bill was born to William Scherzer and Sarah (Waldman) Scherzer in Kansas City, KS on July 27, 1940.

Bill began working in the family plumbing business at the age of 12. He was a hard worker and was determined to start his own business adventure in 1979 when he opened his own successful wholesale plumbing supply company, “Plumbers Supply” in Kansas City, Kansas. He then retired in Florida to celebrate his hard work with family and friends.

Bill met the love of his life, Janet (Starks), in his first year of college. They were inseparable and happily married on June 16, 1961. Bill’s quick-witted sense of humor, charm, & big heart challenged and entertained Janet throughout their 61 years together. They were blessed with 3 children, Steven Scherzer, Mark (Kathy) Scherzer and Nichole (Travis) Worley. Bill was a proud grandfather of 3 - Jessie Scherzer, Samantha Worley & William Worley.

Bill was an amazing bowler, loved sports & slots, traveling, hunting, fishing & gardening, the 4th of July, being in a pool, finding a bargain deal and playing all sorts of cards and games with family and friends. Bill cherished people and never met a stranger. He loved to share stories about his family and friends with anyone who would listen. He was always ready for a good prank, funny face or to help you solve a problem.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and William Scherzer, and his brother Bob Scherzer. Bill’s siblings include Jim Scherzer, Anne Scherzer, Judy Fryer.

We would also like to thank the wonderful nurses at Olathe Cancer Center and Olathe Hospice House for their kindness, compassion and skills and service over the last month.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 6-8 at Penwell-Gable Funeral Home located at 14275 South Black Bob Road, Olathe, KS.
