Evelyn Lucille Eudaley
1923 - 2023

Evelyn Lucille Eudaley, age 99, of Olathe, passed away on March 22, 2023 at Evergreen Community of Johnson County.

She was born on September 6, 1923, to John and C. Lee (Cook) Baldwin at Wister, OK. She was the youngest of ten children.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Kansas City, Kansas to work in the B-25 bomber plane factory during WW II. After the war she visited her brother, Dean Baldwin, who was pastoring in Freeport, Texas. There she met Malcolm Eudaley, a sailor recently discharged from his service in the south Pacific. Within three months they were married on February 23, 1946, and had 73 wonderful years together.

They pastored together in Mountain Grove, Missouri, Neodesha, Kansas and finally in Springfield, Missouri. During her years as a pastor’s wife, she served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and organist. She hosted many events in her home for their church family. After retiring they moved to Olathe, Kansas to be near their granddaughters. She was a member of College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe. Her faith was the bedrock of her life.

Evelyn was a self-taught artist with abilities in many areas. She was a decorator, quilter, painter, and seamstress extraordinaire as exemplified by the beautiful smocked and laced dresses she made her granddaughters every Christmas and Easter. When her three great grandsons arrived, she made them sports related quilts and always had games and candy waiting for them.

Evelyn loved her family. Her happiest times were when everyone was gathered together, but she also had a big heart that included her friends. Her greatest joys included preparing delicious food for whomever might be coming to visit. She and Malcolm hosted many domino parties on Friday evenings.

Her family will never forget the smell of homemade rolls coming out of the oven, her arms-wide-open hugs when you walked in the door and her joy at being together. She traveled the world but, home and family were her heart.

Evelyn is survived by her loving children, Linda Walker (Gene) of Springfield, Missouri, Janice Eudaley (Mary Lou) of St. Louis, Missouri and Elizabeth Diddle (Brian) of Olathe, Kansas. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Sarah Holmes (Aaron) and Emily Diddle; plus three great-grandsons, Lincoln, Wilson and Truman Holmes .

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Malcom F. Eudaley.

The family is grateful for the love and care given by all the staff at Evergreen Community of Johnson County. Memorials in Evelyn’s honor may be sent to the Evergreen Community, 11875 S. Sunset Dr., Olathe, KS 66061.
