In Memory Of
Timothy Garrett Shelton
1977 - 2023

Timothy Garrett Shelton passed away on February 28, 2023, and went to his Heavenly Home.
Tim was born September 2, 1977 in Chillicothe, MO to Paul and Joyce (Michaels) Shelton. He grew up attending Carrollton schools before moving to Overland Park, KS in 1987. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1996.

Growing up, Tim’s life was shaped by friends, family, church and the youth department. In 1994, on a youth group canoe trip, Tim accepted the Lord as his Savior. From that moment, Tim chose to serve the Lord in whatever capacity he was able. After high school, he felt led to attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. While at college, he made lasting friendships while serving through bus ministries, children’s ministry and as a camp counselor at Ponderosa Pines in 2000. Tim obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Missions & Bible in 2004.

Later in 2004, Tim moved back to Overland Park after college and began helping in the children’s ministry at his church, Overland Park Baptist as a 1st grade Sunday school and 1st – 3rd grade primary church teacher. He most recently was teaching the 4 & 5 year old Sunday School class.
Tim married Julie Clark on April 22, 2006. Their marriage was filled with lots of laughter & love. Their daughter, Abigail Mae was born in November 2019 and was and continues to be the biggest blessing in their lives.

Over the years, Tim worked at various manufacturing and production companies. His most recent employer was Upfield Foods where he had worked for 8+ years. Tim enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia, cheering for all things Mizzou and traveling with his family.

Tim was a loving husband, father, son and friend. He touched the lives of all who knew him through his acts of service & hospitality. He always had a listening ear and words of wisdom, witty comeback, movie quote or silly song to share. His positive attitude and display of constant faith in God’s plan through trials and health concerns showed his dedication to serving the Lord and trust in God’s plan for his life. His reply through the tough times was always “God’s got this.”

Tim is survived by his wife and daughter of the home; mother, Joyce Shelton; sister Julie Crocker, her husband Jesse and their children Adrian, Kaylie and Jesse.

Tim is preceded in death by twin infant daughters, Emma & Allison Shelton; his brother, Shawn Shelton and father, Paul Shelton.

Celebration of life service will be held on March 11, 2023 at 10:00 am at Overland Park Baptist, 11648 Antioch Rd, Overland Park, KS 66210. The service will be followed by a reception and time to share stories and laughs from 11-12pm. The family encourages those attending to write down a special memory or story to be added to a memory book for Tim’s daughter.

In lieu of flowers, Tim’s wishes were for memorial contributions to be made to the Overland Park Baptist youth department.
