Nevelda Jean “Koko” Cartwright Burns passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023.

She was born on July 6, 1956 to the union of Earl H. Cartwright and Beverly J. Cartwright in Fort Campbell, KY.

Koko attended Central Elementary, Santa Fe Trail Junior High and Olathe High School; graduating in 1972.

Koko’s career ended with Occupational Medicine; she was an employee with Olathe Medical Center for 11 years.

In her free time, she enjoyed making jewelry, decorating, planting flowers and relaxing on her back porch.

She met Bruce M. Burns in 1996 and united in marriage in 2006 in Olathe, KS.

Koko was preceded in death by her mother Beverly Jean Hardaway.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her father Earl H. Cartwright & wife Jimmie, husband Bruce M. Burns, sisters Sussanna Hardaway & Linda J. Murphy, brothers Earl H. Cartwright Jr., & wife Kathy & Lorenzo Battle, her only daughter Valerie R. Barnes & husband Reginald, 3 step children: Latasha M. Burns, Bruce M. Burns Jr., Willie D. Burns & grandchildren Jordan L. Barnes & Jada R. Barnes, nieces, Linda (Dena) Murphy Maina, Bridgette Burnett, Brynn Thompson, Rachel Cartwright & nephews, family & friends.
