In Memory Of
Kenneth "Mac" McKinney
1952 - 2023

Kenneth Grant (Mac) McKinney was born in Barberton, Ohio on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952, to Lloyd and Freda McKinney. Mac passed at 70 years old at his home in Olathe, KS to join his savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Mac grew up and graduated from high school in Westminster, CA. Upon graduation from high school, Mac joined into the US Marine Corps in October 1970. He was an active-duty Marine for nine years and 18 days, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Legal Clerk specialist. He served at Camp Pendleton, CA; Kenosha, WI; Okinawa, Japan; and Shawnee Mission, KS before his Honorable Discharge on October 26th, 1979. Upon his discharge from the USMC, Mac attended college and completed his degree in Electrical Engineering. He utilized his degree to have a very successful career with the Westinghouse Corporation, Avo Electrical, Cutler-Hammer Engineering Services and the EATON Corporation. He was recognized multiple times for being a Top salesman in the Midwest territory and for outstanding customer service. He retired “professionally” in 2018 and our understanding is his contributions are still irreplaceable by any single employee.

In addition to his family, his passions were boxing, weightlifting, watching movies, playing golf, and was an avid reader. Grilling and Bar-B-Qing was a skill he loved to share, and his favorite meal was any Kansas City BBQ restaurant, even though Haywards stood out amongst the rest. He was a true “simple man” and enjoyed a nip of scotch whiskey while watching the news or reading a good book. Mac and his son Andrew spent countless hours playing catch or sharpening Andrew’s baseball skills. He loved to have deep conversations and watch movies with his daughter Donica. “It’s A Wonderful Life” was his favorite. He might have had physical limitations the last ten plus years, but he was always there for them when they needed most, helping guide their ships through the rough waters of life. He was an extremely influential father, loaded with advice and stories. He simply loved seeing his children smile.

Mac was united in marriage to Mardy Ann (Morrison) on September 2, 1982, in Olathe, KS. They welcomed their only child, Andrew Grant McKinney to the world on March 21, 1989. Mac had two daughters, Donica (Littrell) born 1972 and Daleen (Mumaw) born 1974. The McKinney’s lived in McKinney, TX for five years and spent the rest of their married lives in Johnson County, KS. Mac had three granddaughters; Clara and Ava Littrell and Anna Mumaw and one great-granddaughter, Ivy Littrell. Andrew and his fiancé, Danielle Sprague, are currently expecting their first child.

In addition to these immediate family members, Mac is survived by this brother Roy McKinney and his wife Agnes of Phoenix, AZ, sister Shirley Sardina of Atlanta, Georgia, sister-in-law Jolynn (Lindy) and Carey Rolofson of Platte City, MO; sister-in-law Roberta Morrison of Lincoln, NE, numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents Lloyd and Freda McKinney, father-in-law Wesley “Dick” Morrison, mother-in-law Joan Morrison, and brother-in-law Steven Morrison.
