My life and memories – written by Nancy Wells

“Nancy Nason Wells passed from this life into heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 13, 2023.

I was born to Lillian Esther Leopold and Horace Edward Nason on October 11, 1932, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. I grew up in suburban Chicago after my father was transferred there by his employer. The birth of my brother George followed in November 1934.

We were blessed to have a stable household through the depression era. The church and music were an important part of our family life.

My years of schooling gave me a teaching degree and I taught school at Blythe Park Elementary school in Riverside, Illinois for two years before meeting and marrying my sweetheart Dick Wells in 1956. We established our first home in Riverside, California where Carol Ann was born in 1959. We moved to Santa Ana, California where William Edward was born in 1963. In 1980 we relocated to Santa Barbara.

In 1992 Dick retired and we headed back to the Midwest following Tim and Carol and our precious granddaughter Kristen. Dick and I were active in the pro-life movement and the local republican party in both California and Kansas.

We cherished each of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. We are so thankful for our family of 14!”

Some of my favorite things:
Fondest Memory: Being present at the birth of our first grandchild Kristen
Favorite Book: The Bible
Favorite Movie: The Sound of Music
Favorite Food: Dark chocolate
Favorite Flower: Red roses – symbol of life
I Was Always Happiest When: playing songs of faith and singing God’s praise
I Wish I Would Have Had More Time to: Love all my family into the Kingdom

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Richard Wells and brother George Nason. She is survived by her daughter Carol (Tim) Dykman, son William, grandchildren Kristen (Justin) Wedman, Bryan (Sarah) Dykman, Jackson Dykman and great-grandchildren Crew, Kaylynn, Layla, Cash, Oaklynn and Leah.
