John Arthur Garland was born on May 28, 1939 to John Aubrey Garland and Jessie Garland.

John's family lived in Lexington, KY for the first 6 years of his life, before him Mother developed severe asthma and so began the journey to find a better climate for his mom. Their search for the right climate lead them to Pheonix, Az and Toas, NM. His family made their way back to kansas where they lived in Salina and Wichita KS.

In 1966, John met Leota A. Mc Knight. Six months later on February 25, 1967 they were married. In 1968 John and Leota welcomed their first daughter Susan Ann. 2 1/2 years later twins were born in 1971, April and Byron. John and Leota made their home in Park City, Ks for 44 years.

John started working hard at the age of 16 on the bridges for I-70 when it was being built. He was a semi-truck driver for Universal Motor Oil from the 60's to the mid 1970's, where he logged over 1 million miles with out an accident. He also worked as a Trash Truck driver and a heavy truck mechanic until his retirement.

John and Leota were participants in the MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers Club. Donating funds to get the school up and running in 1967. He was also a Deacon at two different congregations were he attended church.

He was loved and respected by all who met him.

John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years. Daughters Susan Henderson of Phoenix, AZ, April Garland of Olathe, KS, and son Byron Garland of Olathe. Grandchildren, Christopher Callison (Rebekah) of Wichita, Crystal (Chris) Bouman, Cameron Callison (Morgan) of Wichita, and Gerald Henderson of Bradley, ILL, 9 Great-grandkids, and brother Jack Garland of TX.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, John Aubrey and Jessie Garland.
