John Philip Warner, 78, died due to complications of Parkinson's disease, surrounded by family, July 28, 2022, at Santa Marta in Olathe, KS. He was born December 3, 1943, at Parris Island, SC, to Harold and Marie Warner, and grew up enjoying summers on the family farm in Indiana.

John graduated from Bowling Green State University, class of 1965. Upon graduation, he married the love of his life, Kathleen (Kathy) Garmy, and the two of them began what would be a 57-year adventure together, residing in Georgia, Ohio, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, California, Michigan, New York, Florida, and North Carolina. It was in retirement at Carolina Preserve in Cary, NC, that he developed many of his deepest friendships. He loved being involved in group activities with his friends, playing ping pong, tennis, poker, fantasy football and also starting a beer club.

John worked hard, putting in long hours at a successful retail career and played hard, spending many Sundays fishing and waterskiing. He enjoyed any activity that included fast cars or sleek boats, loved a good game of poker or an afternoon in a really good microbrewery. John loved spending time with extended family every summer in Mt. Gretna, PA, playing cribbage, fishing, and hanging out on the porch. John will be remembered for his keen sense of style, always being the best dressed man in the room and his wry smile that let you know he was up to no good. His was a life worth living, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents. Surviving in addition to his wife, Kathy, are his son, John Bradley "Brad" Warner and his wife, Sandra, of Overland Park, KS; daughters, Julie Ann Johnston and her husband, Todd, of Hampden, ME, and Laura "Laurie" Kilarski of Rowlett, TX; six grandchildren, Rob and Ashley Warner, Ryan and Drew Johnston, and Hannah and Tyler Kilarski; one great-grandchild, Maisy Johnston; one sister, Sue Sayer and husband, Tom, of St. Simons Island, GA; and one brother, Gregg Warner and wife, Kathy, of Jacksonville, FL. The family thanks the staff at Santa Marta for the loving care that John received while there and the hospitality provided to family members.

A private service will be held at Santa Marta. In lieu of flowers, those that wish may make donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
