Larry Leo Hollingshead, 75, of Stilwell, passed away on July 20, 2022 at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born on August 27, 1946 to Wilford and Tracy (Hicks) Hollingshead at Merced, CA.

Larry lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 and did one tour in Vietnam. After leaving the Army, Larry worked in the drafting departments of several local companies.

At the time of his retirement, Larry worked as a Senior Cost Coordinator for Smith & Loveless.

On January 9, 1970, he married Karla June Grigsby, and in 1979 they built their family home in Stilwell, Kansas.

He enjoyed living at his home in Stilwell, a little piece of country , and spending time with his wife, his daughters' and their activities. He also enjoyed hunting. He went on several northern fishing trips which gave him many joys. Larry retired from Smith & Loveless in 2017 after working many years in the design department.

His attention was then shifted from work to the joys that his little friend, Peanut brought him. They spent many hours of retirement watching John Wayne and other westerns movies.


Larry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Karla Hollingshead; his daughters Leslie Patton (Richard) and Lori Sparks (Cliff); grandchildren, Clifford Sparks IV, Kian and Cole Patton; sisters Glenda Garcia and Mildred Hemme.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Laura Tate.

Larry's family would like to invite you to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm at Stilwell United Methodist Church, 19335 Metcalf Avenue Stilwell, Kansas 66085.
