In Memory Of
Shirley Ann Glass
1946 - 2022

Shirley Ann Glass, 75, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, in the presence of her husband (Sweetie Pie), her daughter (Little Angel), and Pastor John Blackburn. She was born on October 21, 1946, in Ottawa, Kansas to Roy and Betty (McGee) Lambert.

Shirley was raised in Ottawa and after graduating from Ottawa High School, went to work at the Hallmark Card plant in Lawrence, Kansas. It was there Shirley met Max, a part-time worker and college student. After one date, they were married one month later, on September 12, 1966. Max was drafted and spent a tour of duty in Viet Nam. During his absence, Shirley gave birth to their one and only daughter, Hollie Brook.

Upon Max’s return, Shirley continued to work allowing Max to finish and graduate from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. The family moved to Independence, Missouri, and it was Max’s turn to work while Shirley maintained the home front. When Hollie reached her mid-teens, Shirley entered college and earned a degree in Physical Therapy, fulfilling her life-long dream of working in the health care field. Thereafter, Shirley was able to work many happy years in the Physical Therapy field.

Throughout their marriage, Shirley was the guiding light for the family, ensuring that Christian faith was a significant part of their family life. Also, starting with their 25th wedding anniversary, Shirley and Max began to travel, eventually visiting every state in the continental United States, Hawaii, most National Parks, and many foreign countries.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Max Glass; daughter, Hollie Carrender-Shephard; grandchildren, Kris and Jesse Shephard, Harrison Carrender; siblings, Dixie Farrell and Patty Bunch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Betty Lambert.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 2:00-3:00pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with the funeral service following at 3:00pm. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, Kansas.

The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by clicking here.

For those who don’t care to send flowers, that’s OK. Just make a donation to your favorite church in her memory. Shirley would like that.
