John Lewis Rettig, 84, passed peacefully on September 12, 2021 with his family at his side. A memorial service will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10 am.
John was born February 3, 1937 to Alfred and Goldie Rettig in Wabash, IN. After serving in the US Army for 2 years, he made Leavenworth his home. John spent almost 60 years as a barber at Fort Leavenworth.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; daughters Kimberly (Scott) Hedge; Lisa (David) Haines and grandchildren Bailey and Brayden Haines.
Memorials can be made in his honor to Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter, Good Samaritan Society or Crossroads Hospice.
