Cheryl Anne Speck, 65, passed away on July 24, 2021.

She was born September 1, 1955 in Ft. Scott, KS to Clayton and Mary (Richards) Stoker. She married Richard Speck on November 29, 1975. Cheryl was a registered nurse for 30 years and was employed by College Park Family Care at the end of her career. She attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing and graduated with a BSN from Graceland University in Lamoni, IA.

Cheryl was a member of Central Community Church of Wichita, Ks. She enjoyed writing, Jazzercise, music, and cats. All her life, she was involved in music – playing the piano in her church and singing in the church choir. She loved to crochet and was a member of a group that made comfort care items for those in need. Cheryl was a natural caretaker with a nurturing, calming spirit. She was especially devoted to her four grandchildren and her old tomcat, Melvin, whom she loved very much.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Rick; children, Colleen (Luke) Waterman, Joel Speck, and Erin (Caleb) Shrout; sister, Bronwen (Tom) Sharp; and grandchildren, Madelyn Shrout, Olivia Shrout, Clayton Waterman and Lincoln Waterman.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 30, 6 – 8 PM at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home Chapel in Olathe, KS. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 31, 10:00am at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home Chapel in Olathe, KS with interment to follow in Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS.

In keeping with Cheryl’s loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to donate life so others may live. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cheryl’s name through the LifeShare Foundation, 4705 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73132.

The LifeShare Foundation asks that when giving you indicate whom your contribution is in memory of by writing your loved one’s name in the check memorandum or noting your loved one on the Give Now option.
